Uh-oh. Evangelism. It’s one of those “dangerous” obligatory Christian words that will have you handing out pamphlets on the street or being required to engage in academic debates with well-educated atheists about Creation vs. Evolution. Right? What if “Evangelism” is simply the idea of Gospel (i.e. “Good News”) made into a verb that encompasses three very specific elements that our 1st century brothers and sisters would have understood very well in light of their Roman oppressors? What if it’s easier than we think and harder at the same time? And what if it’s for all of us, not just for a few people who “have the gift?” Nervous yet? Don’t be. We’ll talk about how it’s a natural part of what it means to be an ambassador for the Kingdom of God in any context where God places us.
